Voyage of discovery

Some people choose to live a life of service, others a life of accomplishment, others a life of conquest, some a life of poverty (no thank you), some a religious life, still others choose to live a life of discovery.

Christian, God loves me, He chose me, He adopted me to be one of his children and He lavished His grace and love upon my life. That’s true for every Christian who is born again.  He chose you Christian, you didn’t choose Him.

Over the years, the Lord has spoken to my heart, “If you did nothing other than seek me in My word, you will be pleasing to me.”

When a person is on a quest, his life is a voyage of discovery:

A voyageur lives as a stranger in a foreign country. His search keeps him going; he is looking forward to the city with foundations whose architect and builder is God.

For example, by faith Abraham, when called to go, went even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he lived like a stranger in a foreign country. He was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God – Hebrews 11:8.

A voyageur is a sojourner, a person who lives like as a temporary resident in a strange land.

On his voyage of discovery, the seeker is enabled to become all that God intends him
to be because he considers God to be faithful to all of His promises.

The sojourner fixes his attention on the promises of God, not on what is going on around him.

By faith Abraham was enabled to become who God intended him to be because he considered Him faithful who had made the promise – Hebrews 11:11.

Without weakening in his faith, the sojourner faces the facts, yet he does not waver through unbelief regarding the promises of God.

The sojourner knows that the will of God is for His people to live by faith, not by sight.

By faith the sojourner enjoys a warm friendship with the One who called him to go; they are attached to one another by mutual affection. He enjoys lavish favor with the One who told him go to.

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know His master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything I learned from My Father I make known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name. This is my command: Love each other – John 15:15-17.

Faith makes life easy. Faith is always NOW, hope is in the future. Faith is being certain of what you believe. Faith is a choice to believe what God has written in His word.

God's word is eternal, it is settled in heaven forever, so we need to settle God's word in our hearts NOW. Because God's word says it, that settles it! That is what I choose to be certain of. I don't allow circumstances to shout at me, instead I listen to the promises of God. If I have to, I'll stay up all night and meditate on God's promises. I will be fully persuaded of what God promises, and I will experience God's faithfulness to His promises.

The sojourner knows the One who calls things that are not as though they are.

The sojourner walks in the footsteps of the faith of his father Abraham. He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed.

The sojourner knows that faith is in his heart. He also knows he has to get his faith out of his heart into his mouth. He speaks what God speaks. He says what God has written in His word. He makes no reckless statements.

Therefore, against all hope, in hope the sojourner believes God is faithful to all of His promises.

The sojourner is strengthened in his faith by giving glory to God in every circumstance:

The sojourner is fully persuaded that God has the power to do what He has promised. His faith is credited to him as righteousness.

A sojourner's life is a quest to experience God’s faithfulness to those promises he speaks the “Yes” and the “Amen” to.  As a result, he lives a life of miracles.

No, he does not go from one miracle to another, he makes God's word work for him. His life is a contiual stream of miracles. God is faithful to ALL of His promises and good to those He loves, the sojourner knows this.

God says: The just shall live by faith and if they shrink back, He will not be pleased with those who shrink back – Hebrews 10:38.

Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him – Hebrews 11:6.

Continually, I find out more about the favor and love my God has lavished on me

God wants His people to understand all that He has freely given to us in Christ, that is why He sent His Holy Spirit into our lives -- 1 Corinthians 2:12

Without a doubt, I am enjoying my journey of discovery. A discovery of the many benefits of God's New Covenant with His people. This covenant was purchased by the sacrifice of God's Son, Jesus Christ.

Christian, our Father loves us with His UNFAILING love!  He is always for us!  He is always working in us both to will and to do according to His good purpose.
He lives in us and we are in Him, we can’t get any closer to my God than that! -- John 14:20.

Throughout every day, I enjoy close fellowship with my heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. All  born again Christians have the same opportunity for fellowship with the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit -- 2 Corinthians 13:14.

An Invitation: If you haven’t accepted God’s free gift of forgiveness yet, but you would like to experience the New Life He promises, simply pray this prayer:  “Jesus Christ, I choose to believe you are the Son of God and God’s only sacrifice for the forgiveness of my sins. I admit it, I’m a sinner, please forgive my sins, and I ask you to come into my life, I want to be born again. Save me Jesus.  I don't understand it, but please save me Jesus.  Please show me how real you are! Also baptize me with your Holy Spirit; I want everything you have for me. Thank you for accepting me.”

If you’re a skeptic you can pray a prayer like this: “God, if  this is true about Jesus Christ and a new life, please help me understand so that I can accept your gift of eternal life that you purchased for me by the sacrifice of Your Son.”
