Throne of Grace

When I met Jesus Christ I was a full blown, hardcore, brazen, thrill-seeking heathen. If there was such a thing as a sinner, I was it manifest. The mundane was my worst enemy; dope was my best friend. I wasn't raised in a Christian family, and I was not a churchgoer.  I was a sinner, who as a young man told God, "You leave me alone, and I'll leave your people alone." I kept my end of the agreement, but thankfully He didn't take me up on that offer. It took years, but at the age of 34 He introduced Himself to me; I met and accepted Jesus Christ forever.

Even today, I can still remember how warm and pure the grace of the Holy Spirit felt as He poured it on me, opening my heart so I could say “yes” to Jesus Christ.  "Jesus, I'm a sinner, forgive me, come into my life. Show me how real you are." He did! He came into my life to stay, not to cast me off when I wasn't willing to be all that I can be for Him. The gift of eternal life is just that: Eternal, never ending, God given life; it is a gift to be received, not a position to be earned and maintained.

I didn't enter the redemption process through the Church, I entered through Jesus Christ:

He was the door to my New Life!  He met me at the door and welcomed me into His life. He entered my life, and I was included in Him and sealed with His Holy Spirit. God’s eternal guarantee was placed upon my life, keeping me strong to the end, changing me as I bounce along on the redemption road – 2 Corinthians 1:21,22;
1 Corinthians 1:8.

Through Christ I entered this New Life, and in Christ I'll finish this New Life, all because of Him. What other people think, say, or do has nothing to do with my New Life in Christ! That's true for you too Christian. Who do you belong to, Jesus Christ or to the group?

No, I'm not against the Church or opposed to it. I'm included in Christ; He is the head of the Church He purchased with His own blood, and I'm a shepherd of the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made me the overseer -- Acts 20:28. Jesus Christ has ordained me to be a Pastor/Teacher -- Ephesians 4:11-13. So you see, I believe in the body of Christ.

By the Spirit and through faith, I care for the flock the Holy Spirit has put under my care. Where the
Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom -- 2 Corinthians 3:17. This shepherd never harps about submission or commitment, the Holy Spirit takes care of those things. Those are heart things, not head things.

Jesus Christ was the door for me, not some church group:

I know Him personally; He lives to intercede for me, not against me.  I am always welcome before His throne of grace to receive the mercy and grace I need to overcome. I don't have to beg, I simply enter in through faith. You see Christian, because we are included in Him, through faith in Him we may always approach God with freedom and confidence, and that means when we are trapped in sin -- Hebrews 4:14-16; Ephesians 3:11,12; 1 John 1:8,10.

Christian, when you sin don't run from God, don't try to hide it God knows about it:

Run to Him! Run in before the throne of Grace to receive forgiveness and help to over come. Many times over the years I have struggled with various sins, fear, anger, doubt, the list is too long to include in this email. I went before God, "Father I'm here, I stand before you throne of grace I need the mercy and grace you promise to help. Lord I need help, please forgive me and cleanse me of . . ."

Every time I went to the Lord like that, God poured out the mercy and grace I needed and asked for; victory always came, the struggle always ended.

It's real; it really is a provision of God's New Covenant with His people:

You are always welcome to enter in with freedom and confidence, not like a beggar. Read Hebrews 4:14-16 and you will know God's will, so you don't have to pray tag-line prayers: "if it be thy will O God."  It is God's will that you go to Him when you sin to receive forgiveness, cleansing, along with mercy and grace to help you overcome that sinful habit, attitude, belief etc.

When you confess your sins God not only promises to forgive your sin, but also to cleanse you of unrighteousness -- 1 John 1:9.  YOU CAN'T GET YOUR LIFE RIGHT, not on your own, and you don't have to, God is waiting for you with open arms. You belong to Him Christian.

Being a Christian is not making yourself into a good person:

Do you know that the Holy Spirit was not sent into our lives to turn us into good Christians? He wasn't.  He was sent into our lives to change us to be like Jesus Christ -- 2 Corinthians 3:18. And that will take a life time, especially for those who have strong wills and their own programs for change. You know, 7 steps for this, 11 steps for that, pray hard, fast, sacrifice this or that, be more humble, be more involved etc. etc. etc.

God knew what He was getting when He chose each of us -- an imperfect person prone to sin. He knew what He was getting, that is why He lavished His grace on our lives the very first moment we said yes to Jesus Christ. Read Ephesians 1:3-14.

Yes, we have a new spirit, and we have the right to put the sinful nature to death - Romans chapter 6. But we don't do a great job of it; we sin, by our own choice we sin. Sin seizes every opportunity we give it -- Romans 7.  Thank God, "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" -- Romans 8.  Go to God and get forgiven. Each time you go to God for forgiveness you will surrender that area of your life more and more, victory will come over time; the struggle will end.

Redemption is a life long process -- Romans 5:9,10. We entered our personal redemption process through Jesus Christ.  We are kept by Jesus Christ; trust Him. He died for you and now He lives to always intercede for you – 1 John 2:1. He is able to save you completely because you come to God through Him -- Hebrews 7:25.

Take God at His Word, read it and believe it, and experience it be true for you. Pass this good new along to others you know need to hear it

An Invitation: If you haven’t accepted God’s free gift of forgiveness yet, but you would like to experience the New Life He promises, simply pray this prayer:  “Jesus Christ, I choose to believe you are the Son of God and God’s only sacrifice for the forgiveness of my sins. I admit it, I’m a sinner, please forgive my sins, and I ask you to come into my life, I want to be born again. Save me Jesus.  I don't understand it, but please save me Jesus.  Please show me how real you are! Also baptize me with your Holy Spirit; I want everything you have for me. Thank you for accepting me.”

If you’re a skeptic you can pray a prayer like this: “God, if  this is true about Jesus Christ and a new life, please help me understand so that I can accept your gift of eternal life that you purchased for me by the sacrifice of Your Son.”
