The Rapture

This summary about the Rapture is a six minute read.  I address the following questions:

What is the most dangerous aspect of missing the Rapture?

  • Will you be included in the Rapture or left behind?

  • What do you have to do to be included in the Rapture?

  • What is the Rapture?

  • What is the purpose of the Rapture?

  • What happens at the time of the Rapture?

  • What happens after the Rapture.

We also include a brief summary of the events following the Rapture. Also, at the end I include a note for skeptics who resent the idea of the Rapture. At the very end, I include a couple of links for further reading. Enjoy your read, Rev.David

For the sake of keeping this articles short and easy to understand, I am not going to distract you with definitions and complicated explanations.  And I will not discuss all of the pros and cons, nor point out all of the various contentions surrounding the Rapture.

Any person with an unprejudiced mind will readily admit that this short and simple explanation of the Rapture (gathering) is factual and is about to happen. A picture shows more that words can tell, so instead of offering you a definition of the word Rapture (harpazo). I offer you this picture of what will take place at the time of the taking away of born again believers (a.k.a. the Rapture).

This statement recorded in Acts 8:39 is the most vivid picture of what will take place at the time of the Rapture: "Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord SUDDENLY TOOK PHILIP AWAY, AND THE EUNUCH DID NOT SEE HIM AGAIN."

This is another discription of what the Rapture will be like is found in Revelation 4:1: “After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place.’”

The Apostle John heard the trumpet call and the shout “Come up here.”  John was one man, but the event he experiences is exactly what is going to happen to every Christian who is included in Christ and sealed with God’s Holy Spirit. Let me explain.

HERE IS THE MOST DANGEROUS ASPECT OF MISSING THE RAPTURE:

"The coming of the lawless one (the antichrist) will be the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of COUNTERFEIT miracles, signs and wonders, and every sort of evil that deceives THOSE WHO ARE PERISHING. THEY PERISH BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO LOVE THE TRUTH AND SO BE SAVED.  For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that THEY WILL  BELIEVE THE LIE and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness"  -- (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).

In other words, the hideous hatred Satan has towards mankind will be unleashed, all of the evil in the hearts of men and women will be unleashed, God will send  a strong delusion upon them so that they will believe the lie of Satan and end up in eternal torment.

There will be all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders taking place, every form of evil will be rampant. People will delight in wickedness.  It will be a time when men and women will be driven mad by evil.  It will be a time of absolute chaos, like not other time known to mankind.

Will you be taken up in the Rapture or will you be left behind?

In order to know if you are included in Christ and be included in the Rapture or left behind, it is imperative that we understand what makes a person a Christian, click here

We also need to understand the things that DO NOT make a person a Christian. Church membership, keeping the golden rule, doing good deeds, living a moral life, none of these attempts at being a Christian makes a person a Christian.
  Please keep that in mind.

How to be included in the Rapture:

Jesus Christ gave this explanation and I’m not going to dispute His words.  Jesus declared, ”I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.  You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases.  You hear

its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.’”

You must be born again to be a Christian!  And you must be a born again Christian to be included in the Rapture . God made it possible for anyone who is willing to accept His gift of salvation to be cleansed of his/her sins ,

The very moment you accept the truth of Jesus Christ, you are born again, included in Christ and sealed with God’s Holy Spirit.  You are a new person with new desires.  You now belong to God.  It is written: “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” -- 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20. Click here for more information.

If you’re left behind, you will suffer through seven years of greater hell.  It will be a time of trouble like mankind has never experienced. There will be a one world government ruled by a devil possessed dictator, a one world economy where you will not be able to buy or sell, hold a job, have a family unless the dictator says you can, a one world religion that will demand that you worship that dictator as if he were god.  You have not seen war like you’re going to experience during those seven years.  And if you swear allegiance to that beast, you will end up in the lake of fire – a place of NEVER ENDING TORMENT.

What is the Rapture?

It is written, speaking of those who are included in Christ and seal with His Holy Spirit:: “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.  He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him” --
1 Thessalonians 5:9, and we are told to encourage one another with these words. Simply stated: the Rapture is the great escape from God's wrath being poured out.

What is the purpose of the Rapture?

To understand the purpose of the Rapture, you have to understand the purpose of the seven years of tribulation. The purpose of the tribulation period is to fulfill Bible Prophecy concerning the nation of Israel, and to enact judgment upon the Christ rejecting world. God is going to pour out His wrath upon those who continue to reject the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.

What happens at the time of the Rapture?

It is written: We will not all sleep (die), but we will be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of a trumpet.  For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.  For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality --1 Corinthians 15:51-53.

It is written: “According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep (died). For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be CAUGHT UP (raptured) together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.  Therefore encourage each other with these words.” That is all written in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

What a day that is going to be.  It will be a great day of celebration in heaven for those who are included in Christ before He returns for us, but hell on earth for those left behind.

It’s your choice!

God wants to lavish His grace and love upon your life my friend! Open your heart and accept His unfailing love!

An Invitation: If you haven’t accepted God’s free gift of forgiveness yet, but you would like to experience the New Life He promises, simply pray this prayer: “Jesus Christ, I choose to believe you are the Son of God and God’s only sacrifice for the forgiveness of my sins. I admit it, I’m a sinner, please forgive my sins, and I ask you to come into my life, I want to be born again. Save me Jesus. I don't understand it, but please save me Jesus. Please show me how real you are! Also baptize me with your Holy Spirit; I want everything you have for me. Thank you for accepting me.”

If you’re a skeptic you can pray a prayer like this: “God, if this is true about Jesus Christ and a new life, please help me understand so that I can accept your gift of eternal life that you purchased for me by the sacrifice of Your Son.
