The Messiah

Luke 18:31 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them: “everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.   He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock Him, spit on Him, flog Him and kill him.  On the third day He will rise."

Why is it important for us today to know that: “everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock Him, insult Him, spit on Him, flog Him and kill Him. On the third day He will rise again.”

<! 1)   The fulfillment of prophecies given hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus proves that Jesus Christ is who the Scripture says He is: the Son of Man, the Messiah.  He is the Atoning Sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.

<!  2)   Because the prophecies of His first coming, His suffering, His sacrificial death on the cross, His resurrection were fulfilled, then the prophecies of His second coming will also be fulfilled.

<!  3)   There are over 100 prophecies telling of His first coming, and they have all be fulfilled in detail.  There are over 300 prophecies that tell of His Second Coming, and they will also be fulfilled in detail.

In His first coming, Jesus Christ came to earth as a baby in a manger in Bethlehem, just as prophesied. In His first coming, Jesus was the suffering Servant. In His Second Coming, Jesus will be the conquering King. In His first coming, Jesus arrived in the most humble of circumstances. In His Second Coming, Jesus will arrive with the armies of Heaven at His side to reign forever.

“Yes, I am coming soon.”

Jesus Christ, the Risen, victorious King of Glory (Revelation 22:20).

Here's a great song:

An Invitation: If you haven’t accepted God’s free gift of eternal life, but you would like to, simply pray this prayer:

“Jesus Christ, I believe you are the Son of God and the only way to God.  I admit that I’m a sinner, please forgive my sins and come into my life; I want to be born again.  Please show me how real you are. Also baptize me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you for accepting me.”

If you’re still a skeptic: “God, if this is true, please help me understand so that I can accept the gift of New Birth you purchased for me.”
