In Christ - Part 3

As far as God is concerned everything you have is in Christ. Certainly God wants you to understand all that He has freely given you in Christ, and to help you He sent His Holy Spirit into your life to guide you into all truth and help you understand all that God has freely given you Christian, He will even show you things yet to come – John 16:13;1 Corinthians 1:12.

Everything the Bible says is ours legally.  The Bible is a legal document. God made a New Covenant with mankind, and He sealed it with the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.

God was ready, willing, and able to make this New Covenant, now every man, woman, and child needs to agree to the terms of this New Covenant.

1. It is in writing

2. It identifies the parties

3. It states the price and method of payment

4. It describes the condition for acceptance

1. It is in writing:

  • Jesus Christ declares: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away” – Luke 21:33

2. It identifies the parties:

  • The Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe in Jesus Christ – Galatians 3:22
  • Jesus Christ, the Righteous One, He is the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the whole world –   1 John 2:2
  • God presented His Son as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished – He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus Christ – Romans 3:25-26.
  • There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus – Romans 3:21-24

3. It states the price and method of payment:

  • When Christ came, He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption, the forgiveness of sins -- Hebrews 9:11,12:
  • After Christ had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven where He is always interceding for those who accept His sacrifice – Hebrews 1:3; 7:25.

4. It describes the condition for acceptance:

  • And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit – Ephesians 1:13,14
  • Therefore, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly hope we profess (our statements of our faith), for He who promised is faithful – Hebrews 10:19-23.

It is written in God’s Word: all those who accept the truth of Jesus Christ are included in Christ. God’s seal of ownership is upon our lives. Our sins are washed away and we are born again, we were given a new life to enjoy, along with all of benefits of this New Covenant established by God through Christ.

The Bible is a legal document, in Christ, we belong to God, so it makes sense to find out what belongs to us in Christ.

What are the benefits of being included in Christ?

With the help of the Holy Spirit, seek God and find out:

  • 1 Corinthians 1:12
  • Matthew 7:7,8
  • Hebrews 11:6

As you read the New Testament look for statements such as “in Christ,” “in Him,” “in whom,” etc. Underline or circle each one. Write it out in a journal. Reflect on it. Make a personal statement of faith from each one. Say it, speak it out as if you believe it, you will over time, that is the process of becoming persuaded of the truth.

As you develop your statements of faith an excitement will develop in your hearts. You will discover who you are in this new life that you have accepted. You will discover the riches that belong to you.  The way you think about yourself will change, and so will the way you live. You will approach God with a new freedom and confidence, and He will smile on you child of God.

Be persuaded in your heart and don’t stop saying what you believe:

Your statements may not seem true at first because what you are experiencing is not the same as what you are saying. Keep saying what you believe and it will become true for you, God will make sure of that.

God has blessed us with everything we need in the heavenly realm and with every spiritual blessing in Christ. All that we need is real in the spiritual realm. We need to make it real in our personal world by making statements of faith according to what God has written in His word, concerning who we are in Christ, what we have in Christ, what we can do through Christ.

It is your agreement with God that will cause what is real in the spiritual realm to become real in your daily life. It is with your heart that you believe, but it is with your mouth that you declare what you believe, concerning what God says about you and your circumstance.

Begin your discovery process today:

Start developing your statements of faith today.  Form them according to what God says in His word. Here are some examples to help you:

In Him:

For example, “In Him we live and move, and have our being . . .” – Acts 17:28

Statement of faith: "In Him I live, and move, and have my being.  What a vast source of power is available to me. Life! Energy! Wisdom! Strength for impossible tasks are available to me because I am in Him.”

In Christ:

For example: “For no matter how many promises God has made, the are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God” –  2  Corinthians 1:20

Statement of faith: “All of God’s promises are ‘Yes” to me because I am included in Christ. God receives glory when I speak the ‘Amen’ to His promises.  I will experience God’s faithfulness to the promises I speak the ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen’ to in Jesus’ name.”

For example: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away; behold, all things become new” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Statement of faith: “My life is included in Christ, I am a new creation; I am alive in God. All things are new in my life, my old life is gone forever. I am a new creation with the nature of God, the life, and the ability of God is living in me.”

Here is the starting point for discovering your new and abundant life Jesus Christ purchased for you.

Here is a list of references for you. Don’t rush, remember to reflect on what you are reading. It make take you days to develop a particular statement of faith. Take your time, and above all, say what you believe, and keep saying it. Over time, as you learn more and your faith grows, you will revise your statements. Be specific in what you say.

This list is taken from the King James version of the Bible. Any additional statements you find in other versions of the Bible add them to your list.

Here is a useful tool to help you look up the Bible references.  You will be able to choose from a number of Bible translations.  We recommend: The New King James, New International versions, and if you choose New American Standard Bible there will be references to other related verses in the Bible.

If you are a born again Christian God has lavished His grace and love upon your life, don't doubt that!  If you are not born again, but you want God to lavish His grace and love upon your life, here is His invitation:

An Invitation: If you haven’t accepted God’s free gift of forgiveness yet, but you would like to experience the New Life He promises, simply pray this prayer:  “Jesus Christ, I choose to believe you are the Son of God and God’s only sacrifice for the forgiveness of my sins. I admit it, I’m a sinner, please forgive my sins, and I ask you to come into my life, I want to be born again. Save me Jesus.  I don't understand it, but please save me Jesus.  Please show me how real you are! Also baptize me with your Holy Spirit; I want everything you have for me. Thank you for accepting me.”

If you’re a skeptic you can pray a prayer like this: “God, if  this is true about Jesus Christ and a new life, please help me understand so that I can accept your gift of eternal life that you purchased for me by the sacrifice of Your Son.”
