Healing/Health - Part 6

The question is not: Will Jesus heal me?  The question is: Will I receive the healing Jesus Christ purchased for me?

When evening came, many who where demon-possessed were brought to Jesus, and He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.  This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

  •  “He took up our infirmities (feeblenesses, weaknesses, sicknesses) and carried our diseases” – Matthew 8:17 fulfill Isaiah 53:4

What is stated in Matthew 8:17 tells us that healing and health are provisions in God’s New Covenant purchased for us by the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Your healing is always available for you to receive.

Healing is to be received by faith:

This is fact: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever – Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ has not changed, so the things He did back when, He is still doing today. The things He said back when, He is still saying today – He has not changed!

  • An example, Matthew 9:2-8:

Some men brought to Jesus a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”

Jesus saw their faith. What did He see?  He saw some men bringing a paralytic to Him on a mat because they believed the paralytic would healed.

Jesus said to the paralytic, “Get up, take your mat and go home.”

Jesus said that, and the man had to respond to what Jesus said to him and he did respond: “the man got up and went home.”

The man didn’t lay on the mat expecting more to happen; he got up and went home.

If he had refused to get up, he would have been carried home on that mat, still a paralytic.

Jesus Christ has not changed, He still recognizes faith today.

  • Another example, Luke 8:43-48:

A woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind Jesus and touched the edge of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.

In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched Him and how she had been instantly healed. Then Jesus said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”

Daughter, your faith has healed you.

  • Another example, Mark 10:46 –52:

A blind man called out to Jesus.  Jesus asked the man, “What do you want me to do for you?”

Why did Jesus ask the man that question?  The man had to express his faith.

The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

Jesus responded, “Go, your faith has healed you.”

Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

  • Another example, Matthew 9:27-29:

Two blind men came to Him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”

Why did Jesus ask them that question? They had to express their faith.

Then Jesus touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you,” and their sight was restored.

Apparently the men believed Jesus could heal their blindness.

How is Jesus healing people today?

Through people who have faith in Him: “I tell you the truth, ANYONE who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing” – John 14:12

  • An example, Acts 3:1-10:

A man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple.

When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.

Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!

The man looked at them expecting to get something from them.

Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”

Taking him by the right hand, Peter helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.  He jumped to his feet and began to walk.

Peter said, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” And instantly the man was healed.

But the story didn’t end there. While the beggar held on to Peter and John, all the people in the area were astonished and came running to see what happened.

When Peter say the crowds coming, he said to them:  Why does this surprise you? . . . By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through Him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see” – Acts 3:16.

  • Another example:

Crowds gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed – Acts 5:16

  • Another example:

Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said. With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and cripples were healed, So there was great joy in the city – Acts 8:4-8.

  • Another example:

In Lystra there was a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.

Apparently Paul was right, the man had faith to receive healing.

There are two misconceptions Christians have that keep them from receiving healing:

  • First misconception: people believe that God will heal them because they are good.

As we already said: It is the person’s faith that receives the healing Jesus Christ purchased for His people.

Receiving healing works the same way receiving salvation works.  We don’t deserve salvation, we can’t earn it, it’s a gift to be received.  “For it is by grace you have been saved, through FAITH – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast” – Ephesians 2:8.

Jesus Christ is God’s Once For All Atoning Sacrifice for the sins of mankind, and by His stripes we are healed.  We don’t deserve healing anymore than we deserve salvation, healing is a gift to be received through FAITH in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

“He took up our infirmities (feeblenesses, weaknesses, sicknesses) and carried our diseases” – Matthew 8:17 fulfill Isaiah 53:4 – by His stripes we are healed!

How does a person receive healing by faith?

You release your faith with thanksgiving.  You make the decision to believe that Jesus Christ bore any infirmity (sickness, weakness, feebleness) and carried any disease that would attack you.  You do not let fear stop you from believing in the finished work of Jesus Christ. It’s a decision you must make; a decision you won’t back off from.

Once you make your decision to believe what God’s Word says concerning healing, you begin to thank Him.  You don’t ask Jesus to heal you, you thank Him that he bore your sickness and/or disease.  Here’s what I do when sickness, pain, or disease attacks my body or mind:

  • “Jesus I thank you that you bore this sickness for me, you even carried all of my pains for me. Sickness (whatever it is) leave my body, pain leave my (whatever part of my body it is hurting) Jesus Christ bore you I don’t have to.  Jesus thank you for healing me; I receive your healing grace now, in your precious name. I speak healing over my body from the top of my head to the souls of my feet, inside and out, I say be healed David. I plead the blood of Jesus over my body inside and out.  Sickness be gone, pain be gone in the name of Jesus Christ!”

Then from that point on I keep praising and thanking Jesus for healing me.

  • An example:

There was a time when my feet were full of pain.  Every step I took it felt like my feet were breaking in half.  It was sharp intense pain.  But I made the decision to receive the healing Jesus Christ provided me, by His stripes I am healed.  He not only bore my sicknesses, but also my pains. I chose to believe that.

The pain persisted for a few weeks, but I kept thanking Jesus for healing me, and I kept commanding the pain and it causes to leave my body, in the name of Jesus Christ.

At the time, I was buying an selling books so I was going to a number of University campuses.  I was so determined to receive my healing that I always parked out in the farthest parking lot causing me to walk a long distance.

As I walked, the pain was intense, but I kept thanking Jesus Christ for healing my feet, and for carrying all my pain. And I kept speaking to my feet and the pain in my feet: “Feet, you are beautiful because you bring the good news of Jesus Christ everywhere you come. Feet, Jesus Christ is satisfying your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles. Feet, by the  stripes of Jesus Christ you are healed.  Pain, in the name of Jesus Christ leave my feet; Jesus Christ bore you pain, I’m not going walk around with you in my feet, so in the name of Jesus Christ be gone from my feet pain.”

Day after day, I kept offering up thanksgiving for the healing Jesus Christ purchased for my, by His stripes I am healed.  That battle lasted for about a month, and during that battle I had to refuse the attack on my thoughts.  Your circulation is bad; you have diabetes.  You need a cane. You need to stay off your feet. You're getting old and your body is shutting down.

Those lies hammered at my faith, but I refused to believe any of those lies. Instead I chose to believe that Jesus Christ bore all of my infirmities (even old age infirmities), and He carried any disease that would come against my body.   Because of my stubborn refusal to doubt what Jesus Christ has done for me, I was able to receive my healing; my faith healed me.

My friend, Faith is a choice, a decision that you make.  “NOW faith is; faith is always NOW. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and being certain of what we do not see.”

  • Second misconception: people believe that God will respond to them according to their need.

God responds to us according to our faith. Without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God, so apparently with faith it is possible to please God – Hebrews 11:6.

Some people are waiting for God to see their need and then move according to their need for healing.

They keep thinking things like, God will see my cancer problem if I wait long enough, and in His mercy He will heal me.  My willingness to suffer and not complain will touch God's heart, and then He will pour out His healing grace upon me.

That is religious thinking! It is wrong thinking.  God will not move to meet your need because He has already moved, by the stripes of Jesus Christ you are healed.  Jesus Christ bore all of you infirmities and carried your diseases – Matthew 8:17 fulfills Isaiah 53:4. 1 Peter 2:24 also tell us that by the suffering of Jesus Christ you have been healed.

Hope will never get anyone healed.  Hope is not humility, faith is. Faith takes God at His word, and He loves that. Your faith, the measure of faith God gives every born again Christian, is the key that unlocks God’s provision for your healing – NOW!

You can hope God will heal you all your life, and most likely you will die hoping God will heal you. Faith moves God! Jesus Christ is still saying to all those who will hear Him, “According to your faith will be done for you.” “Go, your faith healed you.”

Jesus Christ has not changed. He is the same today as He was back when. At one point in time, in His home town, “He did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith” – Matthew 13:58

The people’s lack of faith, that is their refusal to believe in Jesus Christ, stopped Him from performing miracles.  “And he was amazed by their lack of faith” – Mark 6:6.  Jesus Christ is still amazed by people’s lack of faith, and their refusal to believe keeps Jesus from working miracles for people today.

The fact is: faith is NOW; your faith in what Jesus Christ has already accomplished for you – by His stripes you were healed – will heal you my friend.  It will be done according to your faith.

Believe and Receive, that’s is God’s intention for you my friend.  Faith says, “Healing is mine NOW, thank you Jesus!”

You will never know if this is true until you decide to release your faith and believe in what Jesus Christ has accomplished for you.  Deny it and keep what you have; believe it and be healed, in the name of Jesus Christ.

  • You will never be good enough to deserve healing from God.  Healing is a gift to be received, a provision of His New Covenant.
  • Your suffering will never move God to reach down to heal you.  Faith receives God’s provision for healing. You were healed over 2000 years ago by the stripes of Jesus Christ. Believe and Receive your healing my friend.

One last thing: you cannot identify with the sufferings of Jesus Christ by suffering with sickness or disease or some crippling affliction.  Jesus Christ was not sick or afflicted one minute of His earthly life. Instead He is the One who bore all of our infirmities, carried our sickness, disease, crippling afflictions, and pains.

If you’re going to identify with the sufferings of Jesus Christ, you’re going to suffer persecution and rejection by religious thinking people.  You don’t believe that? Get healed by faith and try to tell people about it.

Who do you belong to?  Jesus Christ or the god of this age?

If you are a born again Christian God has lavished His grace and love upon your life, don't doubt that!  If you are NOT born again, but you want God to lavish His grace and love upon your life, here is His invitation.

An Invitation: If you haven’t accepted God’s free gift of forgiveness yet, but you would like to experience the New Life He promises, simply pray this prayer:  “Jesus Christ, I choose to believe you are the Son of God and God’s only sacrifice for the forgiveness of my sins. I admit it, I’m a sinner, please forgive my sins, and I ask you to come into my life, I want to be born again. Save me Jesus.  I don't understand it, but please save me Jesus.  Please show me how real you are! Also baptize me with your Holy Spirit; I want everything you have for me. Thank you for accepting me.”

If you’re a skeptic you can pray a prayer like this: “God, if  this is true about Jesus Christ and a new life, please help me understand so that I can accept your gift of eternal life that you purchased for me by the sacrifice of Your Son.”
