God Promises Guidance

How do I know God promises to guide me on the path of life?

God wants His people, those who are included in Christ, to live according to His promises.

God has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them we may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires -- 2 Peter 1:4

How do I know if God’s promises are for me?

By His atoning sacrifice, Jesus Christ has made ALL of God's promises "Yes" to those who are included in Christ.

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through Him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God -- 2 Corinthians 1:20

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance -- Ephesians 1:13,14

In Christ, anyone can speak the "Amen" to any of God's promises, in the name of Jesus Christ. ALL of God's promises are for everyone in Christ, for anyone who will believe them and speak the "Yes" and "Amen" to them in the name of Jesus Christ.

But, if we don't speak the "Yes" and "Amen" to God's promises they will remain just words written on the pages of Scripture.

Jesus Christ speaking: "I tell you the truth, My Father will give you whatever you ASK IN MY NAME. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete" -- John 16:23-24

The LORD is faithful to ALL His promises and loving toward all he has made -- Psalm 145:13

Following are some of God's promises for guidance. God says to those who will believe:

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you (I will guide you with my eye). Do not be like the horse or the mule, that have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you" -- Psalm 32:8-9

God also promises:

"Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your   heart" -- Psalm 37:4

I know O LORD, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps -- Jeremiah 10:23

In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps -- Proverbs 16:9

A man's steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way? -- Proverbs 20:24

Here are some of God’s promises concerning Him providing guidance:

"Commit your works unto the LORD, and your thoughts will be established" -- Proverbs 16:3

"Commit your way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass" -- Psalm 37:5

"The  LORD will perfect (complete) that which concerns me" -- Psalm 138:8

"Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of His people; I am the  LORD your God who teaches you to profit (increase to the point of being very valuable), who leads you by the way you should go" -- Isaiah 48:17

Psalms 32:8-9 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Do not be like the horse or mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you."

2 Corinthians 1:22 God has set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our  hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Ephesians 2:8-12 For it is by grace you have been saved (from sin, the powers of darkness, and myself) through faith -- and this is not from yourself, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

If the LORD delights in a man's way, He makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with His hand -- Psalms 37:23-24

"I will never leave you; never will I forsake you." So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" -- Hebrews 13:5-6

An Invitation: If you haven't accepted God's free gift yet, but you would like to simply pray a prayer like this one: "Jesus Christ, I believe you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross as the sacrifice for my sins; you are the only way to God. I admit I'm a sinner, please forgive my sins and come into my life; I want to be born again. Please show me how real you are, also baptize me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you for accepting me."

If you are a skeptic you can pray a prayer like this one: "God, if this is true please help me understand so that I can accept the gift of eternal life you purchased for me."

Here is some of what you receive when you accept God's gracious invitation:

In Christ, we are God's prized possessions. In Christ, we are God's children; He has lavished His love and grace upon all who are included in Christ. He will be faithful to ALL of His promises we speak the "Yes" and "Amen" to in the name of Jesus Christ.

Now it is God who makes you stand firm in Christ. He set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come --
2 Corinthians 1:21,22

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! -- 1 John 3:1

In Him (Christ) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us  with all wisdom and understanding -- Ephesians 1:7-8
