Benefits of New Birth

Now that you have accepted the truth of Jesus Christ, and you asked Him to forgive your sins, and you asked Him to come into your life, you have experienced this New Birth.  You are born again.

You are a New person! Things have been changing for you, you know they have.  You have new desires.

That happened to me too.  New desires replaced the old ones that were causing me trouble. A new desire to read the Bible, and a desire to pray captivated my attention.

Thankfully, I was smart, I focused on satisfying those desires.  Reading the the Bible became enjoyable to me, so I let myself enjoy reading the Bible.  I let it happen.

While reading the Bible I found out how to pray.  This promise made by Jesus Christ grabbed my attention: "I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in My name.
Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete." That's written in John 16:23,24.

I've always been the kind of person who when he finds something that works for me, I use it.  When I found that prayer promise made by Jesus Christ, I began to pray in the name of Jesus Christ.  Quickly I became convinced it was true because I experienced my prayers answered. That will happen for you too.

As I kept reading the Bible I happened across another promise made by Jesus Christ: "My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.  I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. "  That is written in John 10:28,29.

When I saw that Jesus knows me and has me in the palm of His hand, a strong sense of security filled my life.  Jesus Christ knows me, He speaks to me and I can hear His voice and that makes it easy for me to believe in Him.  You will experience that too.

His voice is not an audible voice, but a small, still voice deep in your heart.  It's like realizations will come to you.  You will just know what the Lord is saying to you, especially when you read the Bible and pray.

The Lord is your shepherd, you will never be in want, that is what Jesus promises His people.  Psalm 23 was written to you.

As I kept reading the Bible the Spirit of God caused me to find the benefits of belonging to God.  Psalm 103:1-5 tells us to praise the Lord, and as you continue to grow in your knowledge of God, all your inmost being will want to praise the Lord.  We are told not to forget all the benefits of being His people:

  • He forgives all of our sins (past, present, future);
  • He heals all of your diseases;
  • He redeems your life from the pit;
  • He crowns you with love and compassion; and
  • He satisfies your desires with good things SO THAT your youth is renewed like the eagles.

Think about those benefits and your heart (your inmost being) will leap for joy.

We are children of God! The Bible tells us, "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! That is written in 1 John 3:1.

Jesus says, "My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of My Father's hand."  God is our Father, and He is the One who made it possible for us to accept the truth of Jesus Christ.
He is the One who caused us to be born again.  God loves us!

God wants us to understand all that He has freely given us, so He sent His Spirit into our lives to help us understand. The Bible tells us, "We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us." That is written in 1 Corinthians 2:12.

The Bible tells us that God wants us to live our lives according to His great and precious promises. We are told, "He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." That is written in 2 Peter 1:4.

The Bible also tells us that all of God's promises are "yes" to us, and we can speak the "amen" to those promises we need Him to be faithful to.  God receives glory when we experience Him fulfill His promises on our behalf. That is found in 2 Corinthians 1:20.
